Abstract

Relevance. Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, is not only an economic, but also an innovative center for managing and responding to medical, demographic, hygienic and epidemiological processes. Urbanization, climate change, and the level of socio-economic well-being of the population have a significant impact on the health of residents, especially young people. The identification of factors determining the quality of life and education of university students is important both for the formation of a healthy lifestyle and for planning effective educational and urban strategies in the social sphere.

The purpose of the study: to assess the health of 18–25-year-olds living and studying in a megalopolis in 2020–2022.

Materials and methods. The data of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic and the results of three population censuses were used: 1999, 2009 and 2022. The morbidity rate for 2020–2022 was studied according to the statistical information of the Electronic Health Center of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. Analytical and statistical methods were used.

Results. The analysis showed that the population of Bishkek as a whole is growing, but the proportion of young people aged 18–25 is decreasing (by 10.5–12.5%). The incidence rates are increasing for all classes of diseases, with five priority classes accounting for 82.4% of the total incidence of the urban population. The relationship between housing conditions, living in an urban environment and the health status of students has been revealed.

Conclusion. The study shows the need to introduce mechanisms for assessing the health index of megalopolis residents, taking into account demographic and environmental characteristics. To improve the quality of life and health of young people, it is necessary to develop and implement innovative programs for the formation of health-saving behavior. An integrated approach to planning the urban environment and the educational process for students in the capital of the Kyrgyz state is required.

Abstract

Relevance. The State policy of the Republic of Belarus in the field of healthcare is focused on ensuring the availability and quality of medical care, as well as on the prevention of diseases and the formation of a responsible attitude to health. As part of the implementation of the State Program

«Public Health and Demographic Security» for 2021–2025, the project «Healthy Cities and Towns» is being implemented, and this work is devoted to evaluating the implementation of this project.

The purpose of the study: to study the opinion of the population of 250 cities and towns of the Republic of Belarus on the effectiveness of the implementation of a set of measures provided for by the state preventive project «Healthy Cities and Towns for 2023» through a questionnaire survey.

Materials and methods. The study was conducted using a sociological survey of the population of 250 settlements participating in the implementation of the state project «Healthy Cities and Towns» in 2023. The sample totaled 1,365 respondents (sampling error ±2.62%). The questionnaire included questions aimed at assessing attitudes to health, healthy lifestyle, accessibility and quality of medical care, as well as the effectiveness of preventive measures.

Results. The attitude of the population to their health and a healthy lifestyle has been studied, the effectiveness of preventive measures to preserve public health has been assessed, and the accessibility and quality of medical care from the point of view of patients has been assessed. The respondents consider the effectiveness of the healthcare system to be the main indicator of the success of the project. One in five survey participants (19.0%) noted the positive dynamics of its development in their locality. At the same time, an assessment of the opinion of the population about the necessity and reality of forming the «health» of their locality recorded a low level of awareness of citizens about its implementation (only 9.0% of respondents). A significant part of the respondents (66.6%) consider their own health to be «good», and stress, lack of sleep and a sedentary lifestyle are among the key factors negatively affecting it.

Conclusion. Belarusians’ idea of the «health» of their locality includes, first of all, the activities of the healthcare system and the factors of ensuring and maintaining their physical and mental health. The need for greater government involvement in the development of healthcare, the creation of cultural and sports facilities, ensuring a high level of technological development in human settlements, decent working conditions, as well as greater implementation of barrier-free environment elements is emphasized. The majority of respondents noted the need to improve the activities of medical and social services aimed at raising public awareness and prioritizing healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Relevance. In order to successfully maintain health, it is necessary to identify the factors that influence public commitment to disease prevention and to determine the reasons for the public’s lack of involvement in preventive measures.

The purpose of the study: to study public commitment to disease prevention and identify measures to improve the accessibility of medical care.

Materials and methods. A one-time observational study was conducted using a questionnaire consisting of 37 questions on the involvement of citizens in preventive measures in 85 regions of the Russian Federation.

Results. Among the barriers that prevent people from taking preventive measures, the most common were problems with the organization of medical care and inconvenient work schedules for specialists, as well as personal commitments to study or work. Respondents who had taken preventive measures were more likely to analyze the situation and see more obstacles, as well as being afraid of appearing overly concerned about their health. Among the measures that could increase the degree of involvement in preventive measures, the most frequently mentioned were improving the quality of the activities carried out, the lack of formalism in the work on the part of medical professionals (31.1% of respondents), increasing the availability of preventive measures from medical institutions (24.9% of respondents), positive incentives during preventive measures (for example, additional day off) (21.1% of respondents).

Conclusion. The study showed that the number of respondents satisfied with the organization of preventive measures by medical institutions is higher among those involved in prevention than among those who did not participate in preventive measures. Among those who are not satisfied with the organization of preventive measures, only 28.7% of respondents had experience of participating in preventive measures. The study demonstrates the need for active work to create a stable attitude among the population towards a healthy lifestyle and preventive measures, involving all representatives of legislative and executive authorities in these processes.

Abstract

Relevance. In the context of healthcare modernization and increased focus on patient-centered care, patient satisfaction with medical care is becoming a key performance indicator for healthcare organizations. To systematically assess and manage this indicator, a survey of patient satisfaction with medical care was conducted in healthcare organizations in Gomel city.

The purpose of the study is to identify the key factors influencing patient satisfaction with medical care in public healthcare institutions of Gomel city.

Materials and methods. The study was conducted in two healthcare organizations in Gomel city (GUZ «GGKP No. 2» and GUZ «GGKP No. 5») with 150 respondents. The STIMUL methodology was used, which included an assessment of overall satisfaction on a 5-point scale, followed by the identification of factors reducing the score. The analysis employed calculations of Emotional Load (EL) and Emotional Weight (EW) of the problems.

Results. The average satisfaction level was 4.3 points in GGKP No. 2 and 4.6 points in GGKP No. 5. The greatest impact on satisfaction was exerted by problems related to digital interaction (lack of internet access – EL=3.25; inconvenient website – EL=2.5), infrastructure deficiencies (uncomfortable waiting areas – EL=7.25; lack of secure storage for personal belongings – EL=2.5–4.5), and organizational difficulties (need for self-referral to specialists – EL=4.5; long waiting time for doctor’s appointment – EL=4.25).

Conclusion. The study results demonstrate significant potential for improving the service component of medical care through targeted elimination of the identified problems. The priority areas for GGKP No. 2 are the development of digital services, while for GGKP No. 5, they are the optimization of appointment processes and infrastructure modernization. The obtained data form the basis for developing targeted programs to improve the quality of medical services.
