Author Guidelines

Article submission rules

  1. The journal “The CIS Healthcare" accepts for publication original research and review articles on topics corresponding to the following VAC specialties:

3.2.3. Public health and health systems management (Medical sciences);

3.3.9. Medical informatics (Medical sciences);

5.4.3. Demography (Medical, economic sciences).

  1. The editorial office accepts manuscripts of up to 40,000 characters with spaces (excluding the title page text, acknowledgments, tables, figure captions, reference list, and author information) only in electronic form in Microsoft Word format (*.doc, *.docx), sent to the email address: healthcis@mednet.ru.
  2. The article submitted for publication must be up-to-date, novel, present the problem statement, describe main research results, conclusions, and comply with the formatting rules specified below.
  3. Before submitting an article to the editorial board, authors must make sure that:
  • The article matches the journal's thematic scope;
  • The manuscript contains all necessary information in Russian and English, indicates information sources, figure and table captions, and all citations are properly formatted;
  • Issues concerning publication ethics and authorship have been properly
  1. Previously published (in whole or in part) works, as well as articles under consideration in another journal, are not accepted.
  2. The editorial board reserves the right to shorten and edit submitted works. All articles received by the journal's editorial office undergo peer review in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission (Russia).
  3. Publication of manuscripts is free of charge.
  4. No fee is paid to authors for published articles. Author copies are not sent.
  5. Manuscripts not formatted according to the rules will not be accepted for publication.

General technical requirements for manuscript text formatting:

  • Font: Times New Roman, size (point) – 12 pt.
  • Alignment:
  • Margins (top, bottom, left, right): 2 cm each.
  • Line spacing:5.
  • Spacing between sections: “Before” – not set, “After” – 10 pt.
  • Paragraph indent:25 cm.
  • Text: one column per page.

Title page must contain:

  • UDC (font bold italic, left-aligned without paragraph indent).
  • ARTICLE TITLE (uppercase letters, bold font, left-aligned without paragraph indent). Should be informative, reveal the content of the article, and not exceed eight words.
  • INITIALS, AUTHOR'S SURNAME(S) (uppercase letters, bold font, left-aligned without paragraph indent). A superscript number corresponding to the serial number of the listed affiliation (workplace) follows the surname.
  • Author's affiliation(s) (full name), city, country (left-aligned without paragraph indent). A superscript serial number precedes the organization name).
  • Structured abstract of the article (word “Abstract” – bold italic font). Volume not less than 250 words. Should briefly present all sections of the article: Introduction, The purpose of the study, Materials and methods, Results, Conclusion – must not contain abbreviations, references to literature sources, or illustrative material. Serves as an independent source of information from the article for placement in various scientific databases. The body of the abstract is formatted as follows: section names – bold italic font, line spacing – single (1.0), paragraph indent – none.
  • Keywords (phrase “Keywords” – bold italic font, followed by a colon). Not less than 4-5 words or phrases, but not more than 10. Indicated after the phrase “Keywords” on the same line (formatting: line spacing – single (1.0), paragraph indent – none).
  • For citation (phrase “For citation” – bold italic font, followed by a colon). On the same line, indicate: Surname and initials of the authors (in the specified order), article title (formatting: line spacing – single (1.0), paragraph indent – none).
  • Contact information (phrase “Contact information” – bold italic font, followed by a colon). On the same line, indicate: last name, first name, patronymic of the author (in full) for correspondence, his/her e-mail address (formatting: single line spacing (1.0), paragraph indent – none).
  • The item is formatted similarly to the previous three. Indicate the funding of the study or its absence. For example, “The study had no sponsorship”.
  • Conflict of interests. Indicate the absence or presence of a conflict of interest. For example, “The authors declare no conflict of interest”.

Article language. The journal accepts manuscripts from any country in Russian. Translation of the article metadata into English is mandatory (article title; author's initials and surname; official English name of the authors' institutions, city, country; article abstract; keywords; citation information; corresponding author contact; funding and conflict of interest information, as well as the reference list (References) and information about the authors (About the authors)).

All listed metadata must be duplicated in English:

  • UDC;
  • ARTICLE TITLE;
  • Initials, author's surname(s);
  • Author's affiliation(s);
  • Abstract;
  • Keywords;
  • For citation;
  • For correspondence;
  • Funding;
  • Conflict of interests.

If the authors did not provide the article metadata in English or the translation is of poor quality, the editorial office returns the submitted materials for comments correction.

Formatting the main text of the publication

The text of the article should have the following structure (section names – uppercase letters, bold font, left-aligned without paragraph indent):

  • A brief overview of relevant data (state of the issue under study), critical appraisal of the most significant publications, justification of the novelty and significance of the research, identification of unresolved issues, clear statement of aim and objectives.
  • MATERIALS AND METHODS. Description of research sequence and methods used with justification for their choice. This section provides the reader with the opportunity (if possessing the necessary qualifications) to assess the correctness, reliability, and validity of the results obtained.
  • RESULTS. Specific concise indicators – quantitative or qualitative, as well as facts obtained during theoretical or empirical research.
  • DISCUSSION. Explanation of the obtained results, highlighting new aspects of the research, reflecting their significance. Duplication of information from previous sections is not encouraged.
  • CONCLUSION. Presentation of brief conclusions and justified recommendations, as well as directions for future research.

At first mention, terms repeatedly used in the article (but not in the title or abstract) should be given in full with the abbreviation in parentheses; thereafter use only the abbreviation.

Formatting illustrative and graphic materials

Formatting tables. Each table must be numbered, have a title and a data source, as well as a reference in the text:

  • The table number and title are placed above the object. The number is given as “Table 1” (font italic, right-aligned). The title is placed on the next line (bold font, center-aligned, line spacing – single (1.0) with added spacing "after", paragraph indent – none).
  • The data source is indicated below the table (the word “Source” – bold italic font, followed by a colon, justified alignment, without paragraph indent). On the same line, the source(s) are indicated with a reference to the access date (formatting: italic, line spacing – single (1.0) with added spacing after paragraph).

Example, Source: compiled by the authors based on data..., current as of ...

Formatting graphic material. Each figure or illustration must be numbered, have a title and a data source, as well as a reference in the text:

  • The figure number and title are placed below the object. The number is given as “Fig. 1.” (italic). The title is indicated on the same line (bold font, center-aligned, line spacing – single (1.0), paragraph indent – none).
  • The data source is indicated below the figure title (the word “Source” – bold italic font, followed by a colon, center-aligned, without paragraph indent). On the same line the source(s) are indicated with a reference to the access date (formatting: italic, line spacing – single (1.0) with added spacing after paragraph).

All illustrations, graphs, and tables are located in the appropriate places in the text, not at the end of the document.

Formatting formulas

Mathematical formulas are formatted using the “Microsoft Equation” editor. Their numbering is placed on the right side in parentheses.

Acknowledgments

In this section (provided after the main text of the article), it is customary to express gratitude to colleagues who provided assistance in conducting the research or made critical comments on the article. However, before expressing gratitude, it is necessary to obtain the consent of those you plan to thank.

Formatting the reference list:

  • The list of cited literature is provided after the main text of the article. This section titled "REFERENCES" (uppercase letters, bold font, left-aligned without paragraph indent).
  • The reference list itself is formatted as a general list, sources are cited in the order of mention in the text in square brackets and formatted according to the Harvard standard (justified alignment without paragraph indent).
  • Recommended number of cited works: in original research articles – 15-25 sources, in review articles – 30-40.
  • The list of sources in Russian is duplicated in English and titled “REFERENCES”.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUTHORS / ABOUT THE AUTHORS

After the reference list, information about the authors in Russian and English is provided: last name, first name, patronymic (in full), academic degree, academic title, position, place of work, city, country, e-mail address, ORCID, SPIN code. (formatting: justified alignment without paragraph indent, line spacing – single (1.0) with added spacing after paragraph; Full Name – bold italic font, followed by a dash).

Example:

Ivan I. Ivanov – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Chief Researcher of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare, Russian Research Institute of Health, Moscow, Russia.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.

Authors who publish articles in this journal agree to the following:

  1. Authors retain copyright to the work and grant the journal the right of first publication under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows others to distribute this work with mandatory preservation of references to the authors of the original work and the original publication in this journal.
  2. Authors retain the right to enter into separate contractual arrangements concerning non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published here (e.g., placing it in the institute's repository, publishing it in a book), with reference to its original publication in this journal.
  3. Authors have the right to post their work online (e.g., in the institute's repository or on a personal website) after review of the draft article by this journal and its publication is completed, as this can stimulate productive discussion and increase citations (See The Effect of Open Access).
